Park Gap-soon
Park Gap-soon first encountered Jiho craft through traditional Korean paper (hanji) training in 1999, forming a lasting connection with the practice. Beginning in 2002, he devoted himself fully to Jiho craftsmanship.
At a time when reference materials were scarce, Park conducted extensive museum research, collected artifacts, and studied old texts to rediscover and preserve traditional techniques, thereby continuing the lineage of Jiho craft. Through countless trials and errors, he successfully recreated the traditional whole-wheat Jiho process.
In recognition of his long-standing dedication and research, Park Gap-soon was designated Jiho Artisan, an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, in 2024.
