Educational Programs

YÉOL’s educational programs on traditional Korean culture include the YÉOL Lecture for non-Koreans that is conducted in English, domestic and overseas field trips to historical sites, museum tours, and the historical walking tour of Seoul. Our educational programs are updated every year. To encourage young people’s involvement in traditional Korean culture, YÉOL provides the “Young YÉOL Program” that includes cultural heritage trips and lectures.

YÉOL hosts a special lecture series by distinguished professionals. At the beginning of every year, Mr. Yoon Yol Soo, the director of the Gahoe Museum, hosts the New Year’s Lecture on the zodiac animal corresponding to the year.

2018 신년 후원자의 날-특강 ‘21세기, 공예가치의 재발견’

강사 : 정연택 (명지대학 공예디자인과 명예교수)

장소 : 서울역사박물관 제1교육실

공예란 일상생활에 필요한 사물을 만들기 위한 기술적 경험과 이를 통해 형성된 문화능력, 문화체질, 사유방식을 의미합니다.

따라서 공예의 가치는 단순히 물건을 만드는데 그치지 않습니다. 공예의 가치는 사회 전반에 걸친 시대적 과제와 깊은 관련이 있습니다.

오늘날 21세기는 급격한 기술의 발전과 더불어 커다란 사회적 변화를 겪고 있습니다.

이번 특강을 통해 예올이 나아가야 할 방향과 문화적 대안으로서 공예의 사회적 역할을 새롭게 모색할 수 있는 뜻 깊은 시간이었습니다.
